Career Interests:
I left my training in Urology for a career in Radiation Oncology to dedicate more attention to my passion for prostate cancer. In late 2007, I founded the group Southeastern Radiotherapy Specialists in response to the growing need of patients in the metro Atlanta area for the latest, up-to-date oncologic therapies, particularly in regards to radiation oncology. My unique training includes several years in Boston treating prostate cancer using the original software that has since become IMRT (Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy), a technology now used worldwide. It also includes invaluable experience being mentored in Oakland, California at the country’s first dedicated HDR brachytherapy center treating a range of malignancies including those of breast, prostate, head and neck, and gynecologic sites. This work served as a springboard into my current focus of prostate HDR.

Each of these experiences has served to define me as unique among my peers in the field. But the impetus for bringing these techniques to the underserved radiation therapy population of Atlanta, where prostate cancer strikes a disproportionately large segment of the male population, was my encounters with patients from the southeast who sought their care in our medical markets out west. It was during my 3 years in private practice in the Bay Area when it became readily apparent, from as far away as California, that patients in Atlanta were looking for an alternative to the old guard and seeking the highest echelon of oncologic care even if it meant traveling cross country to do so.

With that challenge, I came to Atlanta with knowledge and refined expertise gained from my success at developing programs that have invigorated community cancer outreach efforts, revitalizing and updating several Bay Area’s cancer centers, and stimulating enthusiasm among the neighboring public those centers served. This background is now coupled with my personal pledge to deliver cutting-edge, high quality care at the patient level and rapid, academically-minded correspondence at the professional and peer level. It serves as my mission and my pledge to you, my patient.

Expertise and special interests:

Recognized as a national leader in prostate HDR brachytherapy and IMRT and published and proficient in its use, since 2004 my experience includes over 300 patients treated with HDR, over 400 HDR implants performed, and over 700 HDR treatments delivered.
